The flower bulbs I planted last fall have already started coming up. I guess they don't mind the cold and rain as much as I do. But on Monday we got a break in the rain, so I thought we'd freshen up the gardens with a nice new layer of mulch. I very carefully measured everything thinking a 2-inch layer would look good. I don't know if the garden center overfilled their truck or I miscalculated, but we ended up with a mountain of mulch in our driveway. Poor Bruce did most of the scooping while I did the spreading. It took us the entire day and my 2-inch layer ended up being 10 inches in spots, but I doubt we'll have any weeds this summer.
