This week I managed to log 73,699 steps on my Fitbit moving me up to the Low Gap Shelter along my virtual Appalachian Trail walk. Janet is a few miles behind me, mostly because she spent several days painting her house rather than walking.
I thought it was ironic that her steps stopped at Neels Gap - mostly because Neels Gap has a restaurant, a gift shop, and an inn (who wouldn't prefer stopping here rather than a shelter in the woods). Neels Gap is famous along the Appalachian Trail as the point where many hikers, after a week on the trail, throw their hiking boots up into a tree and call it quits. I hope Janet isn't one of them.
