Getting Settled

Still no moving van, but I'm getting ready for when they show up. I cleaned all the construction dust from the floors, closets, and countertops, and labeled all the kitchen cabinets. One might think that's a little OCD, but when you move to a kitchen with a totally new layout, we'll be able to unpack boxes quicker if we know where things should go. I thought this kitchen was about the same size as our old one, but evidently it's bigger, because I have 3 cabinets with no stickers. I'm sure they'll eventually get filled up with something.

Bruce has been putting together new items as they arrive on our doorstep. The first was a new gas grill. Ten years ago, we bought one from Home Depot fully assembled. But when you buy things online, you have to put them together yourself. I can't believe how many little parts it takes to make a gas grill.

I've been spending a little time exploring the neighborhood on my bike. There are a few deer grazing in the open spaces between homes. It's very exciting to see right now (much better than a hoard of squirrels), but I've heard deer can wreak havoc on gardens.

There are a lot of small parks and picnic areas in the neighborhood. This one is in the "family" section, so it's got a lot of recreational features like this giant chess set. I tried swimming yesterday, because the temperature got back up into the 90's. YIKES, was that water cold! I think they pull it straight out of a snow-topped mountain stream.
