We're Getting a Dog

Actually, all we did was put a deposit on a goldendoodle with a breeder. The puppies haven't even been born yet. But since we always had a dog when our kids were growing up and our international traveling days seem to be over, we thought we'd go ahead and add a "walking buddy" to our family. Hopefully when I find my first chewed up shoe, I won't regret it.

In the meantime, Bruce is trying to get the backyard fence built, but the rain is giving him fits. Every time he digs a post hole, it immediately fills with water. It's crazy, since the backyard has such a steep slope you'd think the water would run off.

But when you look out onto the public space between the houses, it looks like we have a neighborhood lake... which was never intended (this is supposed to be a grassy area). But there's no place else for the rainwater to go. So I figure until the sun dries up that lake, those post holes are going to keep filling up with water. Luckily, the weatherman predicted 4 days of sun this week. Fingers crossed.

We did get one dry day this week. Actually, it was only a morning, but that was enough time to squeeze in a bike ride to Franktown. The only bad thing was all the mud and standing water along the trail. My bike was a mess when I got home.

We had our pickleball kick-off barbecue this week. There was lots of great food, but I only had a beer and a brownie, since I'd gone to one of my ladies' lunches earlier in the day. Four of us at the table planned to play pickleball the next morning, but we were only able to get in a couple games before it started raining again. I desperately need to practice, because it's totally different playing outdoors than hitting the ball around the basement.
