Route 66 Virtual Walk

Well I decided to move Janet to California with me on our virtual walk. It's just too difficult to show a step-challenge on a 6-inch 2300 mile map. So we both started in Santa Monica and are now up to Victorville - a small town out in the middle of the desert known for its neon signs and mom-&-pop motels.

We both stopped for lunch at Emma Jean's Holland Burger Cafe. It's a bit run-down, but it's one of the hot spots to visit in the Route 66 guidebook.

I'm not sure what a Holland Burger is, but our burgers were served on toast rather than buns - not too bad.

Janet got a little ahead of me, because I stopped to sketch the neon sign outside the New Coral Motel. Being from Denver, I couldn't pass up a bucking bronco.
